Clearwater Celebrates Earth Day

The City of Clearwater Parks & Recreation Volunteer Program is gearing up to celebrate Earth Day 2021!

This year marks the 51st Anniversary of the holiday which takes place on April 22. Earth Day is more than just a one-day celebration, as the parks & recreation department works year-round to ensure the brightest and most beautiful city with the help of our fantastic volunteer community. This year the city’s volunteer program is teaming up with community members and local organizations to host several initiatives around the city. Initiatives consist of invasive plant removals, park plantings, and litter pickups.

“Our volunteers are greatly appreciated for all of the time and help that they contribute to beautifying our community and ensuring that it remains bright and beautiful all year long,” said Volunteer and Environmental Lands Manager Alyssa Gaudreault. “We are able to fulfill our mission because of them.”

The parks & recreation volunteer program in partnership with the sustainability, neighborhoods, and solid waste departments are also hosting Earth Day Invades Moccasin Lake Nature Park Invasive Plant Scavenger Hunt, a fun, family-friendly event April 17 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
